Ignite alumni SQCDP celebrates £200k investment

The team at SQCDP, who were part of the 2023 Pre-Accelerator programme, have just announced they’ve successfully raised £200k pre-seed investment as part of a larger, ongoing funding round. The initial investment was led by QVentures and a group of Angel investors.

SQCDP helps simplify manufacturing processes by making it easier for staff to collect and report on factory floor data, by replacing traditional ‘pen and paper’ systems with an app. Data that previously was tracked in spreadsheets, paper forms and on whiteboards is now recorded in one centralised system.

Stephen “Mitch” Mitchell, Co-Founder and CEO of SQCDP, said: “We’ve seen that we can solve problems for manufacturers close to home here in the North East and we’ve learned loads through the Ignite programme and in raising our pre-seed round. The investment will help us start onboarding new customers remotely and grow the team.”

An experienced manufacturing manager with 30 years in the industry working at companies such as BAE Systems and Coca-Cola Enterprises, Mitch is joined by co-founder Brian Russell, a solutions architect with 30 years of experience working at a range of organisations such as HP, Capita, and RBS.

The pair have had a busy few months, recently welcoming customers and colleagues (including us here at Ignite!) to celebrate opening their new office here in the North East. This comes hot on the heels of them winning the TechBlast Pitching Night competition and featuring in TechBlast’s North East and Tees Valley Startups 2.0 report.

Harveer Bharaj, Principle at QVentures, said:  “We’re excited to be joining Stephen Mitchell and Brian Russell on their journey in making SQCDP the standard operating system for factories and manufacturing plants. We’ve already been impressed by the level of execution they demonstrated for existing customers and have seen glowing references from a number of them. We look forward to continuing to support SQCDP as they modernise the manufacturing industry.”

SQCDP is the perfect example of what can happen when a team with deep industry knowledge decide to build something new that solves a particular problem they’ve experienced. We’re excited to see where they take SQCDP in the coming months.
